The body mass index (BMI) is a simple but very useful measurement to monitor whether our weight is in the middle of range, ie. A healthy spectrum. The BMI ratio of a person is calculated using his / her weight in kgs to the square of his / her height in meters. A healthy BMI is 18-23 (under 25) kg/m2. (Pl note that 30 or above BMI is Obesity)
Weight control is simple balance of energy input versus energy output. Regular exercise (at least 30 min., five times a week of vigorous aerobic activity) is critical to maintain this balance. Calorie-restricted diets are more effective in weight loss. Food habits play key role in fat or weight loss.
People are often misguided to do dieting for weight / fat loss. Dieting is not the solution for fat / weight loss. Heavy exercises too will give negative results!
In short, calorie-restricted diet & light exercise is required. I will recommend walking, rather speed walk!
I had never done exercise in my life. Just walking only has keep me 'fit & fine'. My weight is around 60 kgs & height is 178 cms.
So, what you are thinking about? Keep yourself fit from now onwards.
Have you ever calculated your BMI? It's fitness check!
- BMI = 19 - 24 Desirable
- BMI = 25 - 30 Overweight
- BMI = 31 - 35 Obese, category 1
- BMI = 36 - 40 Obese, category 2
- BMI > 40 Severe obesity
Bottomline :
If you don't have time for fitness today, than be ready for dullness / illness tomorrow !
