Shooting Script ?
A shooting script is a different version of a screenplay and is created once the production team has been put together and has reviewed the screenplay.The shooting script is distributed to each crew member and provides them with important production information about each individual scene. For example it will state which camera angles and camera shots will be used in a scene.
This helps your entire crew to prepare for the shoot as they will know which equipment to transport and which equipment to leave behind as well as where to set their equipment up in preparation for filming a scene.
About the Format :
Now the shooting script varies from the original screenplay because it's written in the order in which the scenes are to be shot.While the original screenplay runs from Scene 1 and progresses numerically, the shooting script simply starts with which ever scene is going to be filmed first and then moves into the scene which will be filmed second and so on.
So if the first scene in the shooting script is Scene 19 then Scene 19 is the first scene to be filmed.
When you’re writing a shooting script you must give each page and scene a number such as Page 1 and Scene 2. The page number is written in the top right hand corner of the page and the scene number is written in the left margin parallel to the scene heading.
If you’re writing a scene in the shooting script and it carries over to the next page then you should write (CONT’D) in the bottom right hand corner of the page and in the top right hand corner of the next page.
Any dialogue which continues for more than one page should also be clearly marked by writing (MORE) underneath the dialogue at the end of one page.
The next page should begin with the speaking character’s name and the word (CONT’D) written next to it to indicate that their dialogue is stretching onto that page.
I don’t consider the format of a shooting script to be all that much different to a screenplay. It’s written in very much the same manner but the action in each scene is expanded upon and it contains more technical information.
